Maurice Beane
Meet Sculptor, Maurice Beane!
Maurice works primarily with steel, glass, and marble to create architecturally inspired furniture for residential and commercial interiors. His work is in many private and corporate art collections, including the Media General Corporation, Markel Insurance Company, the Sydney and Frances Lewis collection, Dominion energy, and VCU/MCV Hospital.
In 1982, Maurice Beane built his first piece of furniture out of a slab of marble shaped like a wing jet and painted terracotta chimney flutes as a base. The piece immediately got noticed and he was soon getting commissions for other pieces. Maurice is the founder of Maurice Beane Art and Design and a Board Member of Longwood Center for the Visual Arts where he advocates for the arts community.
