Winged Keel Group came to smbw for help in designing their 5,500 square foot office space on the top floor of the new Gateway Plaza office building in downtown Richmond. This new location allows their space to be a showcase of their client relationships which distinguishes Winged Keel Group from other firms.

APPROACH
The space’s clean timeless design and gentle curved walls take advantage of the views of the James River and connect the long linear space from front to back while providing a generous display area for the client’s extensive artwork collection. Floating between the curved walls near the front entry are two collaborative meeting spaces formed by blue glass walls allowing for transparency and connection throughout the space while keeping client information private.
The open office area is located at the southeastern end of the space which capitalizes on the views while providing a collaborative environment that visually connects Winged Keel Group’s clients and staff.
