As part of their ongoing food service strategy, a substantial renovation of this café located on Capital One’s West Creek campus serves as a centerpiece for a new marketplace inspired dining experience. The 16,700 SF renovation encompassed the interior dining facilities as well as an outdoor patio overlooking the campus’ hiking and biking trails.

APPROACH
In an effort to make the café a destination, the design team leveraged the existing building and its expansion opportunities to craft a space that stands out from other corporate cafes and offers a signature experience for associates with unique features and branded moments. Utilizing hydraulic pivoting and two bi-folding doors the interior environment can take a breath of fresh air. Taking cues from existing architecture, the sile feature, which used to be a seating area, transformed into a light filled, mural wrapped, point of entry from the meadow. With a high seat count growth requirement, developing custom furniture solutions created tailored solutions.

MEASURING OUTCOMES
By breaking the corporate cafeteria paradigm, Capital One has created the opportunity to craft new dining options as well as an energetic social annex on campus. Market 34 has become the 1st choice for campus dining among associates, has increased the seating opportunities by 110 new seats, and has noted a 25% increase in dining sales.
